19-year-old college student Karin Abcarians of La Crescenta, California has been an avid Lakers fan for 11 years. Out of those 11 years, she has been a Sasha fan for three of those years. This superstitious Lakers and Sasha fan also watches games with her dad and she gets excited when Sasha succeeds. I took the time to interview Karin and get to know about her love for Sasha.

How long have you been a fan?

I’ve been a fan of the Lakers since about 1998 and of Sasha’s for about three years.

What was it about Sasha that first caught your attention?

I think what first caught my attention was how short his hair was. I know that’s probably the most random answer but you got to admit his short hair was cute, and his pesky defense is quite fascinating as well. Whenever he shoots a three, it’s like a reflex. I just have to yell out “MACHINE!!!”

What are some of your favorite things about Sasha?

Some of my favorite things would be his three-point shooting, pesky defense, long hair and his dedication to making himself a better player. Even though he might get lots of criticizing, he still works hard to improve; you got to love it!

Do you have a favorite Sasha moment or game?

My favorite Sasha moment would have to be his posterizing dunk on two Sacramento Kings players. My dad had fallen asleep because the Lakers pretty much won that game. Once Sasha did that dunk, I lost my mind and yelled, “MACHINE POSTERIZING” and my dad woke up and got confused, it was cute!

If you could say one thing to Sasha, what would it be?

I would say, “NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER cut your hair, LIKE SERIOUSLY NEVER!!!! Oh, and can I have a five hour long hug?”

Anything else about your fandom that you would like to share?

I have some crazy game day rituals. If I’m at school during the day, I must have Lakers related gear on. Then when I’m home, I have to watch the game with my dad, if I don’t think there is a 80% chance Lakers will lose. I am very superstitious when it comes to the Lakers. I have also made one of my friends a Sasha fan; she LOVES his accent.
