Fan spotlight: Lynn Wang

Fan spotlight: Lynn Wang During Sasha Vujacic’s recent trip to China to promote PEAK, 15-year-old Lynn Wang was one of the devoted fans who waited all day to get a glimpse of her favorite long-haired baller from the Los Angeles Lakers. Notwithstanding the long waiting period, this high school freshman from Beijing was just very happy and excited to finally meet The Machine in person. Read on to learn more about Lynn’s story.

How long have you been a fan?

I have been a Lakers fan since 2006 and I became a Sasha fan last year.

What was it about Sasha that first caught your attention?

The first thing is his hair. His hair was short when I first saw him on TV, but it is longer and longer now. And the other thing is his three-point shots, of course. It’s really cool.

What are some of your favorite things about Sasha?

His shots, star sign, accent, defense and passion. Sasha is a Pisces and I am a Pisces, too. Pisces is one of my favorite star signs. And his passion is well-known. I mean, everybody knows Sasha works very hard all the time.

Do you have a favorite Sasha moment or game?

My favorite game is Game 3 against the Celtics last year. My favorite moment is his dunk against the Kings and when Lamar passed him the ball against the Blazers.

Are you able to watch the NBA games where you live?

Yeah, CCTV-5 replayed the game. But because of the time difference, the games are always shown in the morning in China. I have to read the play-by-play report on my cell phone when I’m not at home.

Do you have any game watching rituals? Tell us about your game day look.

I always wear purple and gold when I am watching the game.

What is it like being a fan in China?

There are lots of Lakers fans especially Kobe fans in China — even more than Rockets fans. Pau and Lamar are also very popular Lakers stars here. There are many young girls who are Sasha and Sun Yue fans. Everybody knows the reason, right?

Tell us about your experience meeting Sasha in Beijing.

That’s a very crazy experience! I read the news when the PEAK team came to China. It said a banquet was held at JW Marriott Hotel Beijing and I thought maybe the PEAK team stayed in that hotel. But Sasha had left Beijing when I heard the news. So I had to wait for Sasha to come back to Beijing for an interview on July 29. I decided to wait for Sasha at the gate of his hotel on the 29th. When I arrived at the hotel in the morning, the entrance guard said Sasha had left for a moment. So I waited all day long. Luckily, Sasha came back at night. I got his signature and took a picture with him. It’s funny that my name is Lynn, but Sasha spelled my name in a wrong way (Lyn) on the jersey. I was so excited! Sasha is very nice! He said that he will return to China next year.

If you could say one thing to Sasha, what would it be?

Hope to see you again in China next year.

    吵吵,你该用合照,多么羞涩一相片,你居然浪费了……咳咳。
    但现在看到你北京的经历,再想到他回去直奔机场,为毛我会有落泪的冲动呢T=T
    果然他也是对人欢笑背人愁.
