Caroleena Jakes is a student and resident of Buffalo, New York. Although she lives thousands of miles away from Los Angeles, she has been a Lakers fan since the Shaq and Kobe days. However, she has been a Sasha fan since Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics in 2008. What was it about Sasha that first caught your attention?

He stood out to me because he was giving a hundred percent. I also liked that he was the oddball and different from the rest, but in a good way. He definitely held his own and grew into his role.

What are some of your favorite things about Sasha?

His energy, resilience, effort, and awesome accent.

Do you have a favorite Sasha moment or game?

Game 3 in the NBA Finals last year vs. the Boston Celtics. That’s when I became a really big fan.

What is it like being a Lakers and Sasha fan in New York?

It’s not really a hard thing being a Laker fan in New York. Everyone in New York has their different favorite teams and actually a lot of people here are cheering for the Lake Show.

Do you know other Lakers and Sasha fans?

My brothers and I mess around and pick our favorite players. I think I got my brother to be a Sasha fan.

If you could say one thing to Sasha, what would it be?

To Sasha: keep working hard, it will take you places. I know you’re gonna come back strong next year. Hopefully one day I’ll get to see you and the Lakers play in person.
