Fan spotlight: Angel Munoz

Fan spotlight: Angel Munoz This week, we learn more about Angel Munoz, who recently attended a Lakers game as Sasha Vujacic’s guest. The 23-year-old fan previously lived in Texas and now resides in Los Angeles.

How long have you been a fan?

I have been a Laker fan all of my life; I was born into Laker Nation. I was just a baby in the late 80s and I would sit next to my dad watching SHOWTIME. I even had the Magic Johnson Converse shoes. When I started understanding the game more, I never missed a game.

In the 90s era when Michael Jordan ruled that decade pretty much, I would get teased for being a Laker fan. I sat there and cried when we got knocked out in the first round and then when we could not get past the Utah Jazz. I was so happy when Jerry West hired Phil Jackson. I just knew he would turn the team and indeed he did.

What was it like being a fan in Texas?

Being a fan in Texas, you are pretty much the minority because in the 90s it was Jordan and after that people liked the Spurs and Mavericks. I always wore my Laker jerseys with pride.

What was it about Sasha that first caught your attention?

The first thing I noticed about Sasha was his hair – just kidding. When he got drafted 2004, I didn’t really know who he was because he did not play college ball here. Since I watch all the games, I noticed he played hard defense, he was always in the player’s face. I love good defense because many players don’t like playing defense.

What are some of your favorite things about Sasha?

I like his defense; whenever he is guarding somebody, that player always looks frustrated because Sasha is in their face. You can’t forget his beautiful shooting stroke.

Do you have a favorite Sasha moment or game?

I like it when Sasha hits Kobe before every game; it even gets me pumped for the game.

If you could say one thing to Sasha, what would it be?

I can’t thank you enough for making my dreams come true. I never thought in my life I would ever see a Laker game and you made it come true for me. To be able to sit in the stands and watch a Laker game was such a big dream come true. To be able to stand on the Laker court and be able to do things that other fans have never been able to do was truly special for me.

I have so much respect for you; you are such a great person to all Laker fans. The way you took time out of your busy schedule to sit and talk to Destiny and the rest of us was so amazing. I’m so glad money has not changed you. You deserve everything God has blessed you with because you have such a big heart. Thank you!!! GO LAKERS! I BLEED PURPLE AND GOLD!!!

This is a great story- You can tell this guy is a true Lakers fan and genuinely appreciated the whole experience he had when meeting Sahsa and going to the game. I like his reponse when he says he likes Sasha’s D and how he pumps up the team. I feel the same way – His D is hardcore, so intense and really gets in the players faces- He is awesome and so supportive of his team. He’s not just in the team he is part of the team.

Yeah I have to agree with Tanya though, put down the phone when your takin a picture ;) , rude-y pants

  6. Janice O'Brien Says:

Angel! I love your Laker passion! I had tears when we played in Game #5 of the NBA Finals last year because I knew the eminent end was at hand. Oh, being so much in love with a team hurts sometimes!! You are so right about how great a defensive player Sasha is ~ I just love watching him get in the opponents grill. And you really made me LOL when you said the first thing you noticed about Sash was his hair!!! I liked that one!

Unfortunately, I do to agree with the other Vujachicks that the phone should go while taking pictures with fans. :( But this can be remedied easily ~ maybe tell the person to hold while you have your pix taken (only takes a few seconds) and put your arm down. You took a pix with my friend, Martha, while on the phone and it conveyed a mixed message. Just a thought, my man ~ I only see good things for you ~ and all of us! :)

  9. Ginger Garcia Says:

Yeah I thought it was just me that found the talking on the phone while getting your picture taken a little funny!! As Janice just said, I noticed it first too when I saw a pic taken with Martha, didn’t want to say anything , but now again with Angel !! LOL Oh well, I still love you. It’s OK!! It would be VERY OK if it was ME you were talking to on that phone. ha ha, I wish!!

  10. холодное сердце Says:

well, I hope he was speaking with someone important….. at least.

  11. Angel Says:

I would just like to explain to everyone what happend, the reason Sasha was on the phone was because he was doing a phone interview. His agent told us to take a picture with him so I did because we were running out of time and I wanted a picture with him. So we basically went up to him during that time but he was not being rude we understood. Sasha is so far from being a rude guy, I dont want anyone to get the wrong idea about what happend that night. I hope everyone understands he was great and one of the nicest people I have ever met.

  12. Cristal Says:

Omg…I went to HS with Angel (and his wife)! lol………BRENDA (his wife) did not tell me about this! What a small world!!!!! Go lakers! :D
