It’s not always easy being a Sasha Vujacic fan outside Los Angeles, but Michigan resident Justin Pennisi lets any teasing roll right off his back. The high school senior stands by his admiration for Sasha’s passion and work ethic and even aspires to a similar hairstyle.
How long have you been a fan?
I became a Lakers and Sasha fan starting in the playoffs last season.
What was it about Sasha that first caught your attention?
I remember watching the Lakers play the Spurs in the last playoffs and I saw this player running so hard straight to the three-point line. I was like, I think I am going to just follow what this one player does for the rest of the game. It turned out to be Sasha and I liked how he played so hard no matter what. He reminded me of myself. We both have tons of passion and pour energy into whatever we do.
What are some of your favorite things about Sasha?
I definitely like Sasha’s basketball skills, including his jump shot, team chemistry and effort on defense, as well as his sick hair. I am currently trying to grow Sasha hair especially since I am going to college next year, so I am wondering if Sasha has any tips on how to grow hair like he has. I think long hair symbolizes will and confidence so I think that would be cool.
Do you have a favorite Sasha moment or game?
My favorite Sasha moment was when he scored 20 points in Game 3. He dominated that game!
What is it like being a Sasha fan in Michigan?
Being a HUGE Sasha fan in Michigan has caused a lot, and I mean a lot, of jokes from my friends. They always tease me about Sasha, but I don’t care because I think he is the role model player for hard work and passion. I have not found any other Sasha fans in my area but I try real hard to make some new fans.
If you could say one thing to Sasha, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to Sasha it would definitely be, “Thanks for being a great example of a person with passion because that’s what the world lacks nowadays!”

I know Justin personally. weve been friends since 1st grade and through all that time hes been a die hard pistons fan and used to absolutely detest the lakers because the pistons were playing them in the playoffs. Now, for some strange reason he switched over to the lakers and the pistons are nothing to him. Im questioning his fanhood and whether or not hes jsut a bandwagoner, If youd like more details just post it up and ill answer any questions.

Justin is a true Sasha fan. I’m in his fantasy basketball league and even though he could definitely pick up someone more productive Justin has held on to Sasha all year long… and that’s why his team is in last place. Just kidding.
